will 89 trans-am interior fit in 82 camaro ??

i have a recently wrecked 89 trans-am and a new project car witch is an 82 Z28 i was wondering if the interior from the 89 (seats, head liner, plastic panels by the rear seats, door panels,etc...) would fit in the 82 Z28...both are T-top i was also wondering....is the anyway to lighten the hatch...besides taking it off...im trying to make if functional but stiil shed a few pounds...thanks bryan

Well the answer is yes and no. Every part you listed will swap from any thirdgen to another in the sense that it will bolt in and work, but there are some differences.

The large rear plastic pieces from the 1989 Trans Am will have cutouts for the rear shoulder belts and your 1982 Camaro only has rear lap belts.

You will also have a seatbelt related difference with the side "arm rest" plasic pieces that go under the rear speakers. For 1982, there is a slot for the belt to travel through from the retractor. In 1989, there is no slot and the belt runs underneath the plastic panel.

There were also several versions of the rear-most plastic piece depending on whether or not the car had a power hatch release (larger bulge for clearance), t-tops (slots for hooks to hold the bag) and deck lip mounted 3rd brake light.

As for the hatch... if you mean the Camaro one, there's really nothing you can do. the 89 Trans Am would have the rubber wrap-around spoiler which is rather heavy.
