need help with locking storage cover

need help with locking storage cover
Where does the lock tab actually lock against?? I only have a square hole in the back wall plastic but the lock tab doesn't catch on anything, also is the lid supposed to be angled up slightly towards the back??? A pic of the situation back there would really help
Also was the rear compartment courtesy light an option or standard equipment????

IIRC, there was a metal piece welded in place against the rear panel of the car. Here's a link that will help more than my fading memory:

My locking storage cover has a black piece that is bolted to the body that the lock engages to. The storage cover should sit pretty level when down all the way. Here is a pic.
