92 gauge cluster removal

92 gauge cluster removal

ok i have a 92 camaro rs and the lights in the gauge cluster r burnt out and i cant seem to figure out how to get the cluster out to replace them so i was wondering if someone can give me a step by step on how to do this. also i was need to know how many bulbs r in the cluster and i was wondering if in the gear indicator there should be any lights cause i think they to may be burnt out

you'll need to drop the driver's side underdash panel, it's held on with a couple torx screws IIRC. Then you can acess the screws holding the cluster trim on, you'll need to remove those. Also, once that underdash panel is off, reach up behind the headlight switch, there is a little button you push and the **** will come off. After all the screws are off the tri,. pull it off, it's held on the rest of the way by clips. Remove the 4 screws holding the gauge cluster and out it should come.

You may have to lower the steering column a wee to get it out, there are two 13MM (IIRC) bolts that hold it up, you can see them after you remove that underdash panel.

There are 4 bulbs in the gauge cluster to illuminate the gauges, and 1 bulb for the gear indicator.
