anyone make there own door panels? aluminum?

anyone make there own door panels? aluminum?

87 formula 350. one door panel was messed up due to a missing window when i bought the car. just got sum universal aluminum door panels that i have to trim to fit. but i also want to mount a 6.5" speaker in the door. if u made aluminum panels for either firebird/camaro post them and give me sum ideas.

Can't remember where I saw it, but there was a race car that was finished off with aluminum panels and they stamped flames into each and every panel. Came out real nice. I know one of those Monster Garage books detailed a simple way to get that effect... I think it was "how to fabricate damn near anything".

You basically use a torch and some 1/4" or some type of thick metal to burn out your flame pattern so that you have a set of flames, plus the cutout that the flames came out of. You clean up the edges, throw your aluminum panel in between them and press them. You might be able to do it with wood or something and a hammer. You'd have to experiment.

In the book they used 1/4" and then ran it over with a bus to press it.
