MUSICIANS! gear IN thirdgen pics!!! and how do you prevent scratches???
First off, YES I searched. YES I know there was a third gen musicians thread that got locked, but it was closed due to placement in the appearance and detailing section...so I figured this was a more appropriate area? AND it has a relevant question about interior repair
I was proud enough of my 92 the other weekend that I had to snap some shots of the huge amount of gear she swallowed into the hatch. I'm sure the rear suspension was LOVING the 250 mile round trip, but it needs replacement soon anyways lol.

Just for reference, this is what was buried under the guitars...

I used to throw my pearl export 5 piece in it back in highschool with room to spare...loved the reaction when people see just how much you can carry in these things!
as for the relevancy, I covered most of the panels in towels/etc. to prevent scratches but still end up with a couple small ones. Anyone know a way to reduce or repair them?
Now post up YOUR pics!!

for not taking care of that beautiful red leather! As for your question, I really have no idea. As long as the stuff is soft and not abrasive, it should be good. Could try using some bubble wrap in there... Probably not much you can do when you have that heavy *** **** digging into everything.
Sweet bass btw, I like to rock the guitar personally. By rock i mean i limp a mad cripple Iron man. Only been going on and off since last summer.

Hmmm.....how to prevent scratches in a 3rd gen interior?
Small trailer + hitch = no scratches

....It's hard enough trying to get good plastics these days.

About the only thing I could think of it to convert to carpeted interior pieces. Since they are covered in carpet they don't get scratched or scuffed up like normal pieces do. The only problem is that 89-92 carpeted plastic is nearly impossible to find. The 82-88 carpeted plastic is much more common.

^^^ no worries, I don't plan on EVER selling her
I'm not a fan of the carpet interiors...
and as for the leather, I can at least say it hasn't gotten any worse since I got it. The kid that had it before me let it sit 3 years in a shop lot which certainly didn't help.
anyone ever try getting a metal stamp with similar patter, heating it and pressing it on the scratch? no idea where you would get such a thing but it would work in theory...assuming you don't hold too long and burn it! lol

Not sure how to fix the scratches. but as to preventing them, get an old piece of carpet and cut squares out of it, and when you put your equipment in there, put the carpet between the equipment and the sides. id say 1 foot square pieces should work, just somethin to think about.

Yeah it's a 4th gen, so what. My old 96, I miss it. It fit a full drum kit, the drummer, and a guitar. Could have fit an amp too if it wasn't already where we were going. Then my 2001 could fit my whole keyboard rig, a guitarist, and all his stuff including a 412. But that slid on some ice and hit a tree in november on the way home from practice. My new monte carlo may have a huge trunk, but it's much harder to fit a cab through the door into the back seat.
Yes all this stuff does scratch the interior. Mostly the back "arm rests". If you're not careful that is. It's the other jerks in the band you need to worry about. Insist on loading it yourself. The drummer smashed the bass drum on my rear quarter and chipped the paint.

the guys in my band have known me a while, they know to just bring their stuff over to the car and leave it on the ground unless otherwise instructed ha. usually I only carry my guitar gear, the last trip being an exception with a mix of guitar/bass/drum stuff.
WIll36 - PM sent on the panels, I've been trying to track a certain one down since I got the car!

Heres what i did on my gray interior for light scratches.
Use some 600 grit and wet sand very lightly. If you do it lightly enough the texture stays fine. The scratches are not "gone" but they are much less visible. If you want them gone you'll have to sand the texture off = not pretty.

oh that site is so familiar. with my half cab i wrap it up all real tight in a nice thick comforter and havent had any issues. hell my camaro has dinged my guitar up more than the equipment has it. just be careful and you'll be fine.

I have had no problem getting my gear in my car but I don't have that much just a large bass amp and 3 basses and a acoustic and they fit rather easily (except my exhaust hits the ground).
