Steering Wheels

I can't stand my 91 airbag steering wheel any longer, its all fraying and chipping apart. I am looking at purchasing a new one, but not sure how they would look inside my car. Ive seen a lot of Grant wheels. Just looking for opinions

Re: Steering Wheels

There are a lot of really good looking Grant steering wheels. I think you are going to run into the same problem I have. You will probably have to trim the steering column cover to fit the new wheel. Grrant does not make an installation kit for the air bag wheels.

Re: Steering Wheels

i just installed a grant in mine , ditto on the airbag . retain the yellow spool/spacer and re-use as a spacer . it can be done but you will have to improvise some . you will have to trim about 1/4" from column plastic . good luck .

Re: Steering Wheels

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing.

I have a '92 Camaro Z28 and have a steering wheel with an airbag and I want to put in a steering wheel from a Firebird. Will this one bolt on to my car? I don't care if it has the Firebird logo on it.

Re: Steering Wheels

A 4th gen wheel is a direct bolt on, with the exception of the airbag electrical connector - just attach connector from your old wheel. Trick is to find one at a boneyard in good condition with airbag still in tact.

Also, who makes that wheel? manufacturer?

You'll need a steering wheel puller kit -- most auto parts stores will just rent you one. Costs nothing, as long as you bring it back complete, and not damaged.

Re: Steering Wheels

Just recently replaced my original 91 Firebird steering wheel with a wheel from a 84 Trans Am that I refurbished, paid $20-30 I think
