Sticky carpet patches

well i did a search in this board and didnt really find an answer. i pulle dup my carpet(tossed it sooo nasty) and need to get the sticky swatches/patches up to i can rust bullet the floor. I have seen suggestions like acetone, gasoline and push it into the sun(lol).

just wondering if there is something easy to use. i tried acetone but maybe i just didnt use enough? i really dont wanna spend 3 days scraping at these patches only to give up.

Are you talking about the places where the carpet insulation was glued to the floorboard in a few areas? If so get a heat gun and warm it up real good to soften the adhesive then use a razor blade scraper like you use to scrape old decals off glass and start at a corner and start scraping it off. Just be careful and dont get in a hurry and slice your fingers.

Re: Sticky carpet patches

Try Goo Gone or something similar. I removed vinyl flooring from my trailer floor which left glue all over. Goo Gone was the only thing I found (after trying everything else in my garage) that got it off. You can get it at autoparts stores or Home Depot.

Re: Sticky carpet patches

The sticky patches on the floor are there to seal around the plugs in the floor.
They are very easy to remove with a heat gun (or a torch) and a chisel. Don't use a wire brush on a drill, that just throws stuff all over the inside of your car.
