Gauge Help!!!
Hey everyone. I have some Dakota Digital gauges in my 88 IROC. They were there when I bought the car in March. Since March I have had some problems with them. Half of the gauges would be on and the other half either off or flickering, and the other half of the time they would all be on. Now my problem is that ALL of them are off. When I turn the ignition on the fuse for the gauge blows out. Ive changed them and it happens every time. ANYONE have a clue? Or have this happen to them?

What did you find was the cause of this problem ? I am about to begin a gauge install and don't want to run into this.

Obvious things first, make sure that the fuse is of the correct amperage. Then check your grounds and make sure nothing is shorting. It sounds like the previous owner half assed the install. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Re: Gauge Help!!!
I dont have experience with those guages but from the sounds of it, like stated above it sounds like a bad ground or possibly the fuse is the wrong amperage....id guess the ground is bad...or the wire used for the guage light up is hooked up in a way that its not gettin enough amperage.

Ok... now I have completed the install of the dakota digital gauges on my IROC . Their are only a few possibilities that I can see
Note: You have only one power connector, and one ground .
- Find the control box and make sure the ribbon cable is firmly laced .
- Make sure that your power connector labeled as "12V" is going to a good switchable connection ( the existing one may be bad)
Are you still having the problem currently ?
