Re: Why the $100 difference in these two carpet sets?
probably just profit
usually vendors charge a lot more for the carpet with cutouts for tranny tunnel/console (not really sure why other than they can)
most of the molded carpet sold fpor 3rd gens is made by ACC - check vendors selling on EBay for other prices, I recently bought ACC for $155 shipping inlcuded and this was with the cutouts, they were nince enough to send me color samples first si I could be sure of match

HI guys,
The one you have from our site is for the front area plus the rear cargo area. That's why it so much more.
If you need just the passenger area here's the link for that one.
If you need a free color sample just call us and say you're from Thirdgen.

So Tony, If I were to order this set...
http://www.1aauto.com/1A/Carpets/Che...S02838/1276815
I would get carpet to cover the entire passenger area (lol, drivers side too) AND the rear cargo\trunk area? What about underlay? Do they include any kind of underlay?
EDIT: Misstyped

Re: Why the $100 difference in these two carpet sets?
Ya know what? As I've been searching for carpet kits I've been reading the word "passenger" as meaning just for the passenger side, not the drivers side. lol, wow. So yea, that makes a lot more sense now. Thanks Tony.

Camaro Main area & Cargo Carpet is for the entire car including the cargo area.If you would like to add on the MASS backing it's an extra 93.75
The link I replied with is for the main driver/pass area only and isn't mass backed. If you would like to add the mass backing it would be 60.00 extra.
Hope this helps the confusion.
Re: Why the $100 difference in these two carpet sets?
yes it included jute backing
I wanted more insulation/soundproofing for my convert so I bought some extra from another source to add thickness, and I used DynaMat on the tranny tunnel

), I'll chime in for him.massbacking can be found in some vehicles, 4th gens is a perfect example. Its a thick rubber backing (almost like undercoating or bedliner) that helps keep down road noise and increase insulation. Some guys like to go with this upgrade but its all personal preference.

Re: Why the $100 difference in these two carpet sets?
The difference is that the Classic Industries set is two pieces for the just the floor (no trunk) and the 1A set is one whole piece for the floor PLUS the trunk.
1A - please chime in to verify.

Our kit is a two piece kit (passenger area being one, cargo being the other). The one listed from classic's page is just the passenger area piece.

Re: Why the $100 difference in these two carpet sets?
I understand that, but it looks like the classic ind. (passenger area only) is two pieces VS. a one piece molded set for the passenger area. Cargo area is a seperate piece from both compnanies.
In other words.... 3 pieces to do the whole car from classic, 2 pieces for whole car from you guys.
Just an observation...

my apologies, I misunderstood what you were referring to with the # of parts. I just looked at their photo again and see exactly what you mean with their carpet

Re: Why the $100 difference in these two carpet sets?
I would guess that the picture that classic industries is showing is for a 2nd gen, which is generally a 2 piece passenger compartment.
As far as I know, classic sells the same ACC carpet that 1A and myself sell... they just charge more.

Re: Why the $100 difference in these two carpet sets?
Both sets are two piece front (firewall to Rr seat) & rear (Rr seat to Rr umper).Classic just prices both halves seperatly.
There is no left/right half.Classic use of "passenger" (w/regard to carpets) means the area where "all" passengers are seated, not as passenger side.
One other advantage to the rubberized underside (massbacking), it keeps water from soaking past the top side of your carpet. This reduces the floorboards chance of rusting.

Re: Why the $100 difference in these two carpet sets?
I am looking to buy a passenger carpet set for the front and back seats, trunk is just fine. Why does a person buy a carpet set w/console cut out versus one w/o the cut out? My car is a 91 Z28 vert. I believe Dove gray interior per RPO codes. I sent a request for a sample to your website. Was looking at buying from Classic Industries, but you guys at 1A just seem like you would be better to deal with and being able to match a sample is a nice option to offer. Thanks!
