cavalier Cupholder

even since I owned both an 93 cavalier and an 85 camaro, I always thought it would be cool to somehow use the cavalier cupholder in the camaro. For those of you not familar with the cavalier cupholder, here's some pics...

I've got the cupholder already, now I jsut need to figure out the best way to mount it. I'm thinking of building a cage for it out of metal or some sort of lightweight screen. If I use the screen I would coat the screen in fiberglass, sand it smooth, and then paint it with bedliner

I plan on using existing screw holes on the underside of the dash to mount it, no new hoiles will be made.

If you have any ideas for making this project really cool, please put them here. It's on my list of things to do, but I have time to listen to good ideas

Re: cavalier Cupholder

great idea! im going to spin off your idea here, i need to keep an eye out for some flat face pull out ones like that at work....or maybe modify some cavilier ones!

since my dash is already hacked and i have a ton of factory matching plastic i can make some panels and do this!

move the iroc badge to the right(the correct location?)
make a cut out in the new panel to hold the cupholders in!

Re: cavalier Cupholder

Cupholders are for mini-vans. If you can't juggle a drink, the steering wheel, and a shifter, turn in your man card.

Re: cavalier Cupholder

i have kids and a wife. I'd rather not count on them being able to hold a drink on every long trip.

Re: cavalier Cupholder

Mid 90's Tauruses have single din cupholders that have been used on many different cars, they have become popular with the MX6 crowd since we only ever got 1 cup holder on the left side of the wheel. Some came with a useless piece that snaps into the rear of the arm rest bin but the lid has to be up and it ends up behind your elbow and makes driving a 5 speed dificult.

The din cup holder could be put where the stock sterio goes with a single din type sterio surround or it could be placed in the flat portion of the dash face with some work.
