does the autometer gauges hook right up to the stock wiring for your gauge cluster...like are there wires for the speedo that the autometer speedo can connect to etc.

The speedo connects to the vss directly. The tach can be spliced into the factory harness. The oil pressure and water temp connect to their own supplied sensors and not in the factory connectors. The voltmeter can be spliced into the factory harness as well as the fuel gauge. You will need a wiring diagram for the factory cluster to find which wires to splice into.

Re: Custom 1990 Dash For Autometer

I was wondering if I I got a mechanical speedo what would I need to do to make it work in my car concidering I have an electric setup already, I only ask because I just got a good deal on some autometer z series fuel, volt, water temp, and oil pressure gauges and if I got a z series speedo and tach to match the speedo only comes as a mechanical setup.

I'm not sure about the mechanical setup. I would imagine if you can hook up a cable to your tranny to get a reading then it will work but I would contact autometer tech support to make sure.

If you're a novice to wiring diagrams then it can be a PIA. There is cutting splicing into the factory harness involved. If you're not sure what to do just ask for help. The hardest part for me was running the oil pressure sensor wiring through the firewall and finding a location for the oil and water temp sensor.

Re: Custom 1990 Dash For Autometer

I know this is sorta an old thread, but I too run 3 3/8" tach and speedo. I emailed classisc dash about their 90-92 gauge panels. They dont have a blank panel or a panel predrilled for 3 3/8" gauges listed on the site, however, if you email them or call them, they will sell blank panels or predrill you a panel for whatever size gauges you want. Theyre still $159 for either way.
