I have a 1983 Trans Am that has the 305. The speedometer doesnt work but i pull the front cover off and the dial rotates. I was wondering if this means the gauge is good and the cable is bad. Im think about replacing the 85mph gauge with maybe a 145 or a 160 and i wanted to know if there is anything special i need to do.

Thank you for the reply im going to remove the speedometer, because the needle is broken anyways, and replace it with a new one. Do you know anywhere i can get a OEM speedometer or a pretty cheap 4" one?

 

Try the on-site classifieds or any bone yard.
