I'm not sure if this should be in the fabrication board or not. I bought an 8 point comp. engineering cage to put in my 91. Who else has done this? Can you post or send me pics please? Well the issue: the main hoop and the crossmember etc. interfere with the back seat. So I decided to cut the entire back seat thing out, since I'm back halving the car a little more fabrication won't be huge. I was thinking of making a shelf in the back originally but then thought why not a bin. I want to make like a box with a lid and latch to fit where my back seats were so I can throw my stuff in it. I was going to make it out of sheet metal and cover it with carpet. Has anyone done this? Ideas? Thanks!
i bought the same kit and mine fit with the rear seats but you really cant use them unless your a kid lol i used 6points i didnt had the 2 cross bars to the floor behind the seats casue i welded my hoop to the frame connectors right thru the floor

I'm planning on a similar thing. I'll weld the rest in the next two weekends but m hoop is a little outside the connectors. I'm connecting the rear bars to the frame rails for the 4 link. The two bars that run diagonal to the floor off the cross member and hoop I'll probably weld those to the connectors if i put them in. I'm putting a little bin where the rear seats were. I wanted someplace to put my stuff in. Right now the entire rear is gutted. So I might take out the gas tank and run a fuel cell. Not sure

im in the process of back halfing an 88 firebird now..using all comp engineering framing and drop cross member ,also putting in weld in sub frames with 4link, basically back seat area is gone to accept frame rails, my main hoop and rails are all mounted to drop cross member ,and the rear main hoop struts run back to very rear of car on welded to rails.i can see no reason why you could not mount a box between frame rails right behind main hoop without interfering with diff travel as long as you tunnel centre of box to make it rear section of drive shaft tunnel.. if you are 4 linking your car i would definantly put in sub frames and 10 point cage with rocker panel struts to take stress out of the body of the car, i actually was wrinkling up my floor with stock suspension , 3000 stall ,and posi , and only hitting it with about 390 hp .. on 11in face dot mickey's .a little added advice X measure everything to keep things square and weld nothing solid till you have everything tacked in place. the cage will self support once its completely tacked together do it wont twist when welding..ill be adding some pics soon of my project..hope this helps a bit..

I have my 4 link expedition totally finished if you need some pictures of anything to reference and man does it look pretty. I had to do some custom fab on an old ford 9" to make it work with the set up and it looks soo cool. I bought Qa1 coil overs and im waiting on axles now.
