Where to start...
Well got my camaro home today. The title says its an 84, and they claim an 85, that dosent make much difference in here.
I'd like for ya'lls opinion on where to start on the interior. the front seats have been re-covered, and the back seat is dirty.
This week, our mission is to take out the seats, and carpet, and steam clean it all.
Is the dash repairable, or is it worth just trying to find/buy another?
Also, i'm not sure if this is where it should go, but the speedo bounces and clicks, so maybe the gear is bad?

VIN's tenth digit . . . C=82, D=83, E=84, F=85, G=86
Looks like a good project. Are you going for restored to stock or open to whatever works?
I think you're on the right path. If it was mine . . .
- I'd gut the interior.
- Repair any floor pan damage.
- New carpet. Even if steam cleaned, it'll still look faded and worn. I'd regret it if I had the interior out and didn't replace with new carpet. Hate to take the interior out twice. Carpet kits are easy to find.
- 4th Gen seats front and back. Easy to find, looks nicer and more comfy.
- Get the dash pad recovered. They pop out really easy with just a few screws.
- New console lid or recovered.
- New steering wheel. Maybe a nice aftermarket one.
Just a few ideas. Not sure about the speedo. Keep us updated with what you'd like to do. Good luck.

Re: Where to start...
I was thinking the same on the cable.
I'm gonna check into the carpet deal. Its not going to be road ready for a while, so if we do steam clean the carpet, the whole int wont go back in. Its just a bandaid to cover the stink.. haha, and atleast get it clean.

It's painful to see how some people treat their cars. It looks like you have a decent starter car though. I agree with the new carpet idea. They are cheap enough to have that little extra piece of mind to know you have NEW carpet instead of nasty cleaned carpet. Other than that, check around to see how much it is to recover the pad and lid, if it doesn't bother you, you can get a dash pad cover for now and deal with it later.
P.S. - I pm'd you this morning about your questions.
