My car died and it won't start...

I was driving back from my girls house... as I'm trying to pass this nissan I floor it and 2 secs later my RPMs just drop to 0! I think the car was still running cause 5 secs later the service engine light comes on... so I just let the car stop by it's self...
I try to start it but no luck... it cranks for as long as I want but it won't start... I checked everything and there are no loose wires or anything. When it died it felt like my accelerator cable had snapped... really weird... anybody know what could have caused this or the reason why car won't start?!

Need to verify fuel, and spark, if you are getting both of those, time to check timing. Take a look, see what ya got, and take it from there.

Well... it looks like it was my ignition module.. I have no spark but I have electricity until the module... this sucks... I just got my car back from the paint shop 2 days ago!

Relax, they're like $30, easy to replace and pretty common failure point on these cars. Sh*t happens!

pretty common failure, happened to me, i changed my starter cause the bendix was going out, u know the thing that pushes your starter gear out, if its warn out it makes that zingin sound lol, but anyways that was the hardest starter change ive had to deal with, had to take both exhaust pipes off the manifolds, after i was done, my car started, then i parked it, went out the next mornin (btw we have subzero temps) it started right up, didnt even pump the gas, parked it over in a different spot in the driveway, went back later that nite it wouldnt start, got her in the garage and no spark? changed the cap, the rotor, then the distibutor, then finally she started to fire, but it wasnt a very good spark, it exploded once and caught my hood insulation on fire, but its been startin fine since, but i have a brokin piston in the 350 the the previous owners dumbass boyfriend put it, its all jerry rigged cruise wasnt put on, or nothin

take the module out (pretty easy..takes about 10-15 mins) and have it tested at the local auto parts store. if thats not it check the ignition module.
