How to disconnect ignition wire

Hey guys - 88 GTA. Seems like SUCH a simple question but just can't find the answer anywhere. I've removed the ignition lock cylinder from the steering column. My question - how do I remove that two thin wires that are connected to it? I see they run all the way down the column, and see where they come out the other side at the bottom. But then they continue running back into the dash area, so I can't even find some kind of plug to disconnect it. And I'm really hoping I don't have to reroute this wire through the column

This has really been frustrating me. No manuals mention this wire, and I haven't seen any forums refer to it. I'm practically ready to just CUT the wire from the ignition cylinder and splice the new one back in.

Can anyone help me? How can I remove this wire so I can actually take the lock cylinder OUT of the column completely? THANKS GANG!

Re: How to disconnect ignition wire

Nevermind gang. Turns out this was the PASSKEY (aka VATS) wire. After looking very closely under the dash, a previous owner cut the wire and bypassed the passkey completely, so I'm all set.
