For those with 5" gauges

For all you people with the 5" gauges put in a stock looking panel, or anyone who has put a 5" gauge mounted in dash, how big is the hole cut to?

is the outside diameter of the trim 5" or is the actual hole cut for mounting 5"?
I'm putting an autometer autogauge tach, and a 5" speedometer in and i'm trying to auto-cad my gauge panel, and i want to make sure i've got it all right before i send it off to get it cut.
I wont have my tach in till next week, so id like to go ahead and get the panel popped and ready to start fabbing the rest up.

Also, does anyone have any 2 1/16 gauges? if so whats the mouting hole size on those too?

Thanks,
-Scott

Re: For those with 5" gauges

Autometer has installation instructions on their website that includes the mounting hole diameter:

5" gauge

2-1/16" gauge

Although for the 2-1/16" gauges, I used a 2" hole saw to cut the abs plastic. The gauges fit very snug, but went through the hole. If your sending it out, I'd stick with what Autometer recommends.

Re: For those with 5" gauges

the only thing i'm worried about is that i'm putting a pedastal tach,in dash, so im probally going to wait until i get my tach in, then i'll put the caliper on it and without a doubt, i'll have the right size.
The other ones i get will be in-dash particular ones, so i can trust those mounting specs. i just wouldnt want to send one out for a in-dash tach and the pedastal be bigger, and spend more money getting it cut again.
