Removing entire dash

I'm trying to pull the whole dash pannel out in order to put my sending wire for the temp. sensor through the hole where the speedometer cable is. That's the only way I found possible to get to it and feed the line thought.

I've disassembled every bolt I can find but it seems like something is holding the assembly in near the center. I can pull the entire assembly freely on each side, it just seems to be getting caught on something. Wasn't sure if it was the wires that go to the gauge cluster but it doesn't appear to be those.

Did you unhook the speedo cable? I had the same problem. Had to wrestle with the dang clip that holds the cable to the speedo.

Yeah the guage cluster is all out and your right, that cable is a pain to remove!

Maybe I need to post pictures. I'm trying to remove the grey part behind the cluster. It feels like its caught on something at the bottom by the middle.

There are 2 speed nuts in the deep recessed holes at the bottom of the cluster, one on each side of the steering column. They are in the area of the lights for the break and SES light.

Re: Removing entire dash

I can not find those screws. I just found out this was a huge waste of time because where the hole I used at the firewall wasn't behind the dash like I thought but rather by the brake petal.

Now I have to put everything back together and my memory isn't too great. Anyone have a picture of how the interior dash panels look when installed? There is the black panel that goes under the fuses and there is a panel that goes by it where the steering column is and I didn't remember if that went under or over the black piece last night.

You can drill a hole not too far from the brake pedal. There's lots of space there. But, to answer your question, the under column piece goes in before the lower panel by the pedals, on both sides.
