I'm Just Bragging

Went to the salvage yard today. Nice Haul....... I got a Close Ratio Steering Box and a pair to front seats out of a 95 Camaro. They look pretty good too. The Steering Box was $20 and the pair of Seats was $30. One of the seats as a Rip, but it's not TOO bad. Still a steal for $30 and they'll look nice in my 1982 Sport Coupe.

Re: I'm Just Bragging

I got a tan pair in about the exact same condition about 5 years back. It stitched up well, but still came apart quickly (about a year and a half) in my DD, even though I consciously thought about not dragging when I got in and out.

I'd put seat covers on after you fix it and clean them, and only take them off a couple times a year if you're trying to show off or something, lol

I wish I would have thought of it

Re: I'm Just Bragging

Id stitch it & put it on the pass side. This way the repair is on the inner bolster. So no rubbing, will last much longer.

Re: I'm Just Bragging

Don't all the 4th gens have a power driver seat though?

If not, I would have looked for manual, I am anti-power in a 2-door car, lol

I meant just remove the seat cover(to repair it). Then swap it to the pass seat.

Some 4th gens have a dr.side manual track that pivots up/down at the front.

Re: I'm Just Bragging

Well, Eventually, i will get some NEW upholstery. What i have in there right now is VERY VERY rough. These seats, even with the rip, will be a 300% Improvement. Right now i'm concentrating more on the suspension and drive train to make the car safe.

Re: I'm Just Bragging

I installed the New (Salvage) Seats today. The bolted right in. It didn't matter that they were from a 1995 Camaro and were going into a 1982 Camaro. The look better than the old ones did, although, they don't really match the interior. Here are some pics of the OLD seats that i took out:

Re: I'm Just Bragging

Hmm, so 4th gen seats bolt right in do they? Any seatbelt issues or anything of that nature?

Re: I'm Just Bragging

It just bolted up. No Fuss, No Muss. Remember, I did have to use the third gen rails though. I think i'm gonna go back for the back seat. At $30 for the Front and $30 for the back, That's a good deal.

Nope. Manuals were common on both sides in 4th gens too.

100% bolt in. Only "issue" you might have, is in putting electric ones in & getting them wired. Its not a direct plug in, but wire splicing is part of modding!
