Fourth gen interior in a 92 project

Hi, I have a 92 rs I like my interior but not 100 percent happy. I loved my 95 z28 interior, so I'm going to swap the entire interior in my third gen for fourth interior. I took my model car which is a third gen and made it identical to every plan I want to do to my car body and engine and interior wise. Anyways, what's the easiest way to go about taking the 92 dash out and putting the fourth gen one in, that's what I'm going to start with. Thanks for your time, look forward to your responses.

I just swapped a 97 Dash in my 88, depending on which year gauges you end up using, the wiring may be different. If you decide to go with the 97-02/98-02 gauges, let me know and I will make a diagram of what wires get spliced where. I found the wiring on the "wiring guides" to be slightly off.

Re: Fourth gen interior in a 92 project

I'm glad someone just did so I have fresh info. A few questions; how long it took, how much you spent in fourth gen parts, and the wiring? Was the wiring easy? That's my biggest stall right now in proceeding. I have made camaros fast but new to body and interior mods, so bare with me. I haven't bought anything yet, don't have a clue as to what price would be good, so info on that would help a lot. I like the 97 look so I might look into that, fairly simple? The wiring diagram you were talking about could help too, thanks for
time and responses

Re: Fourth gen interior in a 92 project

I got the whole dash, the gauges, and most trim for $100. Also grabbed the connector the hooks into the gauge cluster and about 6" of wire so I had enough to splice to. Took me about 2 days to remove my old dash, cut/splice the old cluster wires into the new connector, and mount the new dash. My dash is not complete yet, but it is bolted in and all of the wiring is correct, so it is functional.

I am not sure of the 90-92 wiring for the gauges is any different than mine, I would assume that it was. But it shouldnt be too hard to sit down with a notepad and make a schematic to follow, which is what I did.

100 bucks and I haven't jumped on it yet, what the crap! Lol, where did you purchase you're from? As far as wiring, was it a color match on splicing or what?

Re: Fourth gen interior in a 92 project

I actually got it locally, I got a good deal on it, too.

Honestly, you should expect to pay more. Also, the top dash pad is what will cost you about $100 alone, I didnt get that part yet, though.

Most of the wires are pretty much a color-matching deal, but some are not! Absolutely dont just splice similar colors together, something will not work.

Well I look at it this way, if there is one deal out there, there is another alike, lol. Maybe I'll get lucky! Personally I'm looking for a whole car, with or without motor and tranny, just incase. I know nothing bout wires, unless it is car audio which is a no brainer, should have paid more attention in electronics class. 2 days is a good time span, works for me

I am not exactly a wiring guru, myself. Basically, If I did it, you can do it. It just LOOKS, and SEEMS harder than it actually is. When you decide to tackle this swap, don't hesitate to ask me any questions.

Had a question, you actually got the 97-02 guage cluster to work? What year cluster did u use and did it come out of a firebird or camaro?

Camaro.

I wired it properly, but my fuel sender is broken, and I have no oil pressure, or temp senders in the motor. I am swapping in an LT1 soon, so they will work when I do.
