ok this might sound a little weird question about the speedometer
ok well i own a 1991 chevy rs camro. it was my brothers and he got an 87 iroc with a bad body so he put the motor and stuff into the 91. ok so here is my problem. when he switched everything he put the 87 dash into the car. when he was switching out the cluster the speedo needle busted off. so my question would be does any 1 know where i can get a hold of a speedometer for an 87 iroc? btw the gage reads 145 and i kinda want it to stay that way.
plz lmk if any 1 knows where i can find one. ive been looking all day and cant find one...

Goto a scrap yard and pull a needle off of a speedo or tach from another camaro. Push it in at the zero point.

I have a 145 that I sent in to have repaired long ago (factory fixed trip odometer), but it bounced a bit in my car. $25 shipped as is, if you're interested. I believe the pic below is the one in question.

Yes, it'll work, provided you can remove the needle in one piece. As you might imagine, the plastic after 20+ years is fragile. And it means you'll probably have to experiment to make the speedo read correctly. Oh, be careful: If you bend/break the metal rod that the needle attaches to, you're pretty much out of luck.

Ok like the poster above said did the needle itself just break? Or did the internal part break? I am guessing the needle itself cracked off which is an easy fix I posted what to do.

Re: ok this might sound a little weird question about the speedometer
ive never seen a speedo that doesnt bounce a bit in these cars except for an aftermarket one, these things are so old theyre gonna have a bit of an error, mine bounces under 10mph and when im on the freeway itll twitch maybe 1mph every so often if you want accuracy youre either gonna have to hunt down a good factory speedo or go aftermarket

just to keep you all updated. i took the speed gage itself out and looked at it to see what exactlly happened. the piece in the gage that the needle slides onto busted off in the needle. so no i guess i gotta buy a new 1
