help with re-carpet job

I'm redoing the carpet on my 90 GTA and have a few questions:

1. Does the radio console box have to be removed in order to replace the carpet? Where are the screws that are securing it?

2. How are the front seatbelt bolts removed? They look plastic with a shallow Phillips pattern. Do I need a special tool to remove these?

3. What tool do I need to remove the rear seatbelt bolts? It appears to be torx keyed. Where do I get that size a torx head???

4. On the side plastic rail, how do I remove the plastic seatbelt case box looking thing? There is a large torx bolt inside there but doesn't seem connected to the outer trim box that I'm trying to remove. Or does it need to be removed?

I'm trying to remove the old carpet, so anything else that you can think of that needs to be removed, please let me know.

Thanks

1 It will make life a lot easier if you do remove it. There is a bolt or 2 in the back if I remember that holds it in as well as a couple on the bottom.

2 Those round things pop off and the bolts are underneath.

3 Harbor Freight carries them on the cheap. Not sure of size but the 10 piece kit has it in it.

4 That bolt should be the same as the rear seatbelt bolts I believe.

Thanks! I've ordered the torx/star set from Harbor Freight, which includes a T60 size. Hopefully that is big enough.

T47 is the bit you need. All the seat belts are held in with those torx bits except the retractor on the roof. The plastic bolt covers on the front button witha PITA for me, I scratched them up something fierce getting them out, maybe I don't have patience? Who knows but the reinstallation was easier. Good luck with your install, keep the old carpet as a reference point. It may come in handy.

Thanks guy. I thought I tried a T50 but it was *just* too small. I probably just need some corrective eye glasses

I can confirm the T47. Some will say T50, but I found that it did not fit in all the way. The T47 fit exactly and worked perfectly

Re: help with re-carpet job

I was able to use a T45 to loosen. That's the closest size that came in my set. but I agree T47 woulda been a perfect fit.
