A question about rear plastics.

Are there any differences in the rear plastics between the Camaro and Firebird? Are there any through the different years? My 85 FB needs everything from the rear seats back. I just want to make sure I'm looking in the right places for replacements.

Re: A question about rear plastics.

'89-up had rear shoulder belts, so the side panels have cutouts for that. '86-up had a power-pull-down hatch release, the the very rear panel is shaped different to accommodate that. The rear folding door (optional, not very common) is also shaped different for the same reason.

Also, some have provisions for split folding rear seat and roll-up shade, while others don't.

Re: A question about rear plastics.

I came up with a couple other things that were different about the plastics too:

The 2 side hatch panels, and the one on the hatchback itself are made for cars with and without a roll up shade.

Some cars have an optional Light mounted in the hatch,..... earlier cars had an ON/OFF switch hole too. Later cars had the light hole - but no hole for the switch.

T-Top cars used a rear hatch panel with "Slits" in it for the T-Top bag straps.

Some cars needed a "contact pad" from the hatch to the body for wiring certain options. ( rear wiper, 3rd brake ) There would need to be a hole in the top of the rear hatch panel of those cars.

The headliner trim was completely flat in 82-89 cars, but 90-92 needed hardware mounted on it for the exterior third brake light.

Some 82-86 cars had a rear wiper motor that required a "deep" hatchback trim panel.

Non rear shoulder belt rear seat belt covers had slots in them for the rear seat belt to pass thru it..... Rear shoulder belt cars had no holes in that spot.

They are not different from make-to-make, but there are a bunch of options from year-to-year. There are a couple color changes too so try to stay close to your original year when picking plastic parts. ( example: the early red color was darker than the later red )
