How do I remove this?
In my car for some reason I have this wierd GM glue on carpeting on those side pieces of the trunk. Well it is starting to peel off a little in the corners and was wondering how I go about removing the carpet along with all of the gluey residue so that you can't even tell it was there in the first place. Anyone got any ideas? Here is a pic of the piece Im talking about, bear in mind this isnt a pic of my car or a car with the carpeting on it. Cant find my camera or a pic on the internet.

just peel off the carpet and then use acetone to get off the glue residue and then use spray glue to put back on or leave it off. hope that helps

Will the acetone harm the plastic in anyway? Where can I get some for a pretty good price? This might be a stupid question but is the carpet a rare feature becasue I have never seen another camaro with the glue. Do any of you have it?

You have the Deluxe interior. Not too rare, two of my cars have it. Acetone is nail polish remover. Can be boughtvery cheap at wal-mart or most any drug store or grocery store. Good luck!

that is correct. Acetone is in the paint section at wal mart but yes it is in nail polish remover but nail polish remover has other chemicals added in with it. The rear plastic panels and the side panels in the back and the kick panels it is OK to use it on but not on the sill plates will not hold up to it. At least the light saddle ones that I tried it on didn't

the sill plate is the plastic trim piece in the door jamb area the plastic piece right where you open the door it has body by fisher on it. It looks better with it on. Here is an ebay link (not mine) to one just in case you still don't know.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CAMAR...Q5fAccessories If yours are in good shape don't worry about it if not then just use a nylon brush and simple green cleaner on them or you can get aluminum ones from ebay and a couple other places on the web.
