92 dash install?????

hi guys, im new to the forum and i need a little help with my 92 camaro.
it has the 305 and i need to know how the hell do you take the gagues out to put lights in them???? i got all the way to lifting up the dash pad but it wont come out. then i droped the steering column and tried to take the covering off the gagues and it wont come off. if there is anyone out there that could maybe help me with this. i would appreciate any pictures or step by steps you can give me! im mechanically inclined i just dont want to tear anything up. this would also help for anyone else with a 90-92 with burt out lights. thanks!

Re: 92 dash install?????

the 90-92 dont have bolts in the dash like an 82-89.
ours snaps in and out. its the outer part to the gagues.
i wish i had just 8 bolts to take out of the dash but i dont.
how do i get the light switch out, the defroster switch and cigeratte lighter out so that i can take that pannel out? i dont want to tear anything up.
i attached what the 92 cluster looks like. all i need to know is how to take the light switch out, defroster switch and cig lighter so i can get to the cluster.

lay on you back looking at the bottom of the head light switch, you will see a silver metal button with a spring, use a 1/4" drive extionton, push it and pull out the ****. the cover will pull off and then disconnect the lighter.
then you will see the bolts that hold the cluster.

Re: 92 dash install?????

Relax, you can do almost all of this sitting in the driver's seat.No need to remove dash cap. First, remove panel under the steering wheel(5 torx screws). Now seated, remove little bolts on bottom of gauge bezel. The bezel will now pull off, but you must first remove light switch **** either from releasing the whole shaft as noted above, or by just pulling it off forward. If you pull it off, make sure you don't lose the little metal clip in the **** that holds it on. Pull far enough out to unplug anything else still attached. Now just remove bolts holding in the cluster, and with steering tilted down, pull it out slowly, tilting the top towards you. Replace bulbs and reverse steps. If you pulled the **** off you might want to bend the clip a little so that it holds the **** on tight.
