Center Console Delete!!

Has anyone ever completely ditched the center console. I'm about to get my t56 installed and just got a brand new LOWER shifter boot for it, all pretty and clean and have always been inloved with the classic muscle cars that has no center console and is strickly just floor, carpet and shifter. Has anyone attempted this look and if so can i see the finish product. I do know that the whole radio dock will need to be modified for this to look right.

Re: Center Console Delete!!

i thought about it, but dealing the e-brake handle and moving the window switches is a bit of a project in itself, and i dont know of any aftermarket carpet that doesnt already have the center area precut. so you would have to deal with the holes in the carpet too.

haven't ever seen it done before, i am kinda fond of the center console armrest however.

Re: Center Console Delete!!

I know that the carpet from stockinteriors.com does not have the cutout for the center console. I think I have seen something like this done on a third gen before, so its pretty possible.

Re: Center Console Delete!!

For the radio & AC controls....Use a Firebird piece. It is separate from the console in 'birds & what Camaro guys use to do a 4th gen console swap, to mount their radio & AC controls.

Re: Center Console Delete!!

I'm thinking about either doing this, or modifying the 4th gen console that i have. I like the oldschool look of the delete, but like the armrest and storage of the center console.
