Re: Dash pad questions.
Only thing I can tell you is to keep an eye on ebay or Thirdgen Ranch or Hawk's, or your local JY. They are getting more rare by the day. There was a company making repro's, but I saw a thread here not too long ago that they were gone.
Ebay has carpeted covers for like $30 that are nice - I have one. I got lucky a few years back and snagged a mint pad on ebay for under $200 - but I spent 2 years looking. I now use the carpeted cover to keep it protected. It looks so good I don't even remove it for judging. They come with adhesive backed velcro strips to keep it in place, but on my mint pad I don't use them - the carpet kinda sticks in the front (gets wedged between dash and windshield) and thus stays in place, even at 100+ mph with the T-tops out and windows down! Might look into one of those to cover your cracks until you get lucky.
{It's hard to get lucky when your crack is showing, ask any plumber}
