Grant GT Help

I have a a 91 Camaro RS, i want to get rid of the airbag wheel, and put a grant gt wheel, but i cant find a install kit for it. None of the kits i can find say they will work for that wheel on my particular car, i want reassurance that the one i order is right. I appreciate any help you can give!

Well not knowing what part you ordered since you left that fact out I am going to assume you ordered the wrong part.
I don't think grant makes one for airbag columns. The body of that column is bigger while the steering shaft is smaller than the 89 and older columns.

I had a nice Leccara with a billet hub on my 84. When I replaced that car with a 91 I tried the wheel and hug and found it would not work. That wheel and hub are now on my mom's 84 S10..... Now I want it back for my 89!

Re: Grant GT Help

it can be done , i did it . the install. kit you want is the one for pre-airbag 3rd gen. . you will have to trim about 3/16-1/4" off the plastic collar on the steering column . i used a fine tooth hobby saw , a fine tooth hacksaw blade will work . just be very careful , you can always cut/file more off . it's very hard to cut more on . be sure to dis-connect batt. & remove SIR fuse . take your time , instruction sheet is not that good applied to a 91 . if you are a little bit mech. inclined it can be done in about 4 hrs. . did i mention take your time . do a search , you will find more details . good luck .

Re: Grant GT Help

there was a nice write up someone did for your application. do a search for it, as i dont remember who did it. i removed my airbag assembly on my 91 and had a grant, then switched to a factory leather wheel from an earlier non airbag camaro.
