Headliner W/overhead console question

well thought i'd start a new thread, tried doing several different searches about what im looking for and really didnt turn up really anything. so anyways heres my situation, i need to replace my headliner in my camaro with t-tops and i know that replacements are plasic versions, so my question is if i were to get a plastic version would all i really have to do is drill new holes for the console or would i be better off just getting my current headliner recovered, thanks guys

Re: Headliner W/overhead console question

Headliners are pretty easy to do. Theres videos on youtube of the steps. Thats how I learned how to do it for my car. the headliner material is sold at some auto parts stores and at most fabric stores. the spray adhesive is also found in most auto stores.

You'd have to do some cutting for the new piece, as seen in the link to follow:

Re: Headliner W/overhead console question

My original cardboard headliner was in very good condition except for the fabric which was fraying or ripping at the edges. I thought "if I can just get it out in 1 piece" I would prefer to just recover it--well, its not easy to get out and because they are made of cardboard and that cardboard is 20 years old you will crack the board during removal. I ended up just buying a new ABS headliner which was already covered in fabric. It was a pretty easy install and looks brand new. I love the fact that I will NEVER have to replace it!
Personally, I would just recommend going the ABS route. Its a little bit more expensive than recovering the stock cardboard headliner but its so much better and will withstand the elements!
