Hey everyone, I have an 83 camaro with t-tops and my drivers side t-top latchs system doesnt work, I disected the t-top and found that the gear conected to the release handle is stripped. Does anyone remake these gears? I don't want to have to go get another at a junkyard if i can fix this one. Also am i the only one with this proble? I couldn't find any threads on the subject.

If it's the pin type T-top, and not the hook type, then I'd look for any 1990 - 1992 Lexan T-tops for sale and haggle the price down on one or both. The Lexan tops crack, not many like them, and swap out for glass tops - but the mechanisms inside should be all the same - so you could haggle a lower price for a Lexan top because everyone just wants to be rid of them since they crackle up.

 

It's an 83 so it's latch style. Thanks though

Lexan T-Tops were NOT used on 1990 models.

They are glass, Lexan is only '91-'92. This mistake is a common one that gets perpetuated too often.
