Interior questions
I feel I do not have enough power with my current engine, so I am looking at upgrading to a 540ci. With an engine that big, I figure I should have no problem turning over a nice set of drag tires (15x15 rim) I'm assuming I need to tub the back out for those, but with the 6-inch offset would they happen to fit on the stock axle? Question 2: Installing a rollcage: I'd like to keep the interior somewhat nice, as I'd still like to keep the car street-legal and be able to drive it to work every now and then. Does anyone have a rollcage installed, and does a headliner still fit in the car? I'm hoping that after modding the entire drivetrain I won't have to change the body at all and I can still go with replacement custom-fit carpeting. This will probably be a project over the next decade or so, but I like to plan ahead, and would rather do all my research up front, so I'm not wasting my money on **** I don't need. Any advice you guys might have I'd sure appreciate.
Re: Interior questions
I am gonna assume your not using the stock rear with this set up,because without some beefing up it will not last.I have seen plenty of camaros and birds with a cage and headliner,no problem.

Re: Interior questions
I have a destroyed Fab9 that I thought was going to work. The issue with that was the center section. I also have a destroyed 12 bolt (Stripped pinion gear.) I ended up selling the 9inch housing and axles and getting a Strange S-60. Thats been working so far. You will be able to use factory replacement carpet for the front, but will have to have the rear custom carpeted. I would also comment that you will not need a wheel that wide if you are going to street-drive the car. My '90 uses a 10 1/2" slick at the track and 345's on the street (11" wide wheel) Good luck to you!

Where do I find one of those? I am not seeing one on Jeg's page... do I need to tub the rear for 11inch tires? I really have no clue what I'm doing, I just want more power. I've never been down a track in my life, but enjoy watching... also, here's the tranny I'm looking at. Open to suggestions, but need something that will hold up to 800+ HP

Re: Interior questions
Strange engineering makes the S-60. Basically it is a dana model 60. MUCH stronger than a 12 bolt or a 9" ford. (Though, different people will have different opinions.) I use an ARB air locker so I can lock up like a spool for launches and have an open diff for street driving. (Again, different people will have different opinions on this.)
I like both the TH-350 and TH-400, depending on wether you want overdrive or not. I am a really big fan of the 700R4 (So is the tranny shop I have used for years.)
Personally, I would find a tranny shop that you really TRUST, then talk to them about what you are wanting to do with the car. Are you using it on the street or drag-only? It really makes a difference in the way you build the car.
Mine is mini-tubbed, the thread is on here in the chassis section. (Not mine, the one I followed.) I ordered my S-60 narrowed 2" and with LCA mounts moved inboard 1" each side.

Re: Interior questions
I currently have a TH350, but from what I've read online, it will only handle about half the power of what I may end up having. I don't want to end up blowing my tranny apart...
