Re: Door panels done
I love the diy projects that people do. Those panels look very sharp. Just one question, What was used for the divider strip between the top section and the bottom?
I really like the subtle iroc z in the upper section. I would give that a two thumbs up.

Wow that looks clean. Superb job! How did you mount the speaker with the window motor there or did you re locate it? I don't see it in the picture.

Re: Door panels done
I bought a kit from electric life. it was manual window crank, new one bolted in very easy and motor is mounted higher up in the door. The speaker was spaced out 1.5" to accomidate the depth of focal krx3 woofer

Re: Door panels done
I first got a piece of .125" steel and welded it to the door so i have a sloid mounting point for the krx 6.5 woofer it is very large and heavy. I used dynasorb and dynamate extreme on on inner and outer skin of door. Used origional door panel and a template for size and cutouts for handle and door clips etc. Test fitted and traced out door armrest and upper trim placement. used another piece of .125" mdf and glued over top of traced piece to cover door clips. Added ring and cut out woofer hole and filled for smooth transition.

Haha that's really a funny question. I actually found it at home depot but for the past month we have had a hard time finding it. Even most lumber yards we not carrying any but we finally found on dealer in town had some. Were doing the same type of thing for a Toyota pickup and cant go over .25"

Good looking door panels, I thinking of doing somthing to mine too. I see alot of people doing the 4th gen door panels but I think they look out of place.

Great job on the door panels!! Best I seen very clean. I'm at that point of my build and I would like to know did you use any type of foam behind your fabric? A lot of sites says when making panels you have to use foam.

Re: Door panels done
I did not use any foam. I probably should have on the suede insert it would have had a more plush feel. I heard the foam is used to hide some imperfections as well as make it softer, the leather part are fine but like i said i should have used foam on the suede insert. I dont think i will be rebuilding them again anytime soon, but who knows.

Re: Door panels done
Did you make that speaker pod from scratch, or did you buy it somewhere? I bought a double from a member here but it seems to big. Your design is very clean.

Re: Door panels done
I made these from scratch, they still look the same as the day I made them. And what kind of double are you referring too, do you mean the dash kit? If so I made that also.

Re: Door panels done
do you happen to have a template drawing showing dimensions of the door panels?
