Rear shoulder seatbelt panel

I was wondering if anyone had ever come up with a way to cover the shoulder harness plastics.... I am talking about the piece on driver and passenger side that the shoulder belt goes through... The older lap belt style panels did not have this square opening for the retractor.

I am using the newer style interior plastic panels in an 85 and do not have shoulder belts... was just curious if someone had ever fabricated a cover for these....

Re: Rear shoulder seatbelt panel

well... either find a cheap set of rear panels that doesnt have those cuts in them or... take some thin sheet metal and curve it to fit and screw it in. your choice on color to paint them.

or... a neat idea is put rear speakers there like in the 4th gens.

get creative but your easiest and quickest is to open your wallet and pay around 50 bucks for earlier style rear panels and you'll be all set. but that just depends on how picky you are.

alot of us including myself try to fix what we already have but in the end after spending money to be cheap or creative we end up buying the better solution in the anyway. but the choice is yours I just gave you some options since you asked.

what i'm doing with my 87 is adding rear shoulder seat belts. i drilled out the brackets from a donor car and going to wled them in my car. already bought the nessessary parts and should be a fun project.

goodluck

I am leaning towards getting some thin abs plastic and heating and bending it to shape. Partsexpress.com has textured sheets for just a couple bucks.... can't hurt to try.
