For a complete swap in a 92, you're looking at a big job; several of the connectors and wiring layouts changed in 91. At a minimum, you'll need the dash, engine harness, front body harnesses, rear body harness, door sensors, wiper fluid sensor, and coolant level sensor. You'll also need the shop manual from the donor year car and your 92 to help you repin the new connectors.

From teardown to completion, you're looking at a couple months work to get everything working 100%.

Re: 1987-1988 GTA Digital dash questions

The tac on my 87 gta digital dash is cracked. Can I replace just tac or do I need entire cluster? And how can I find one? Any info would be appreciated, thanks!

You can actually pull each of the displays off of the cluster. I've replaced bulbs that way.

Re: 1987-1988 GTA Digital dash questions

Older thread I know. How did some of you fix your problems? i had a problem were my lights were dim and it was a fuse that i swore i checked and well i guess i missed. the only problem now is that my radio and steering control wont light up , its only those that are completely dark. now there is a 5amp fuse, at least thats what i found in there and with my power probe if i power the circuit the radio and steering controls will illuminate but yet with a good fuse it doesnt light up. where does the radio and steering radio control gets its power from? i dont think there is short because the power probe did not pop the fuse when i powered the circuit. anyone have this problem

These things look cool as hell, anybody know if they will work in an older model ('84) if you swap out the harness? Is the cluster even the same dimensions?

They will fit right in but you need the whole complete set up. The radiator for example has a hole on the side tanks for the low coolant sensor. best way is to get a complete car and transfer it over. I actually just bought an extra dash for mines just in case my dash goes bad.

best to try facebook market place, LetGo, offerup, craigslist etc. Give these guys a call. A lot of people just want to sell the whole unit although i have seen people sell parts of the dash when they dont have the rest of the assembly.

I still have not even checked fuses, but I am just wondering if instrument cluster is on the same fuse as the system check/odometer.

Have also the same issue on my digital dash (88 GTA). Odometer works for about 20 minutes, then display shows repeatedly "100" or "188" (like in the pictures above). After parking and letting it cool down, the odometer works perfectly again for about the next 20 minutes.

Does anyone have a solution?

try asking this guy. It could something like a burnt circuit board or a dirty contact on the electronics. This is a tear down he did on his dash. Maybe private message him.
