Re: rear seat delete
i have had an interest in doing something like this for years. how much would you want for making something like this? the only thing i had thought about differently in my head was having some kind of access door on the front near the back of the front seats to use as storage space for tools or other stuff. i really like the low profile. let me know how much and we can talk more from there

No problem. Just out of curiosity, how much would you want for one of these? I probably wont have the $$ for one either way for another few weeks, just wanted to get some idea

i think it would be better if the subs were mounted in it rather than on it

Re: rear seat delete
wouldn't be much anywhere from 50 ton 70 just depends on shipping....and u cant mount the subs in it because it would sound like **** the boxes are sealed for better sound...trust me i though about that too lol

Re: rear seat delete
okay, i was jsut putting my 2 cents in, i like the idea, this way noone can ask for rides since you only have a 2 seater, it looks clean, and i agree with the guy in here, i would store tools, ice scraper, extra cds ect in there, kinda like a big glove box you know?

Re: rear seat delete
not a bad idea. i would definatly like to have these, would just have to get some idea of shipping first. what did you make them out of? plywood? what size if so. Is there anything that supports this in the center or does it rest on the hump in the rear? just interested about more details

Re: rear seat delete
it rest on the hump in the cent and is made out of plywood but its pretty thick idk what size ..is supported in bout corners by square blocks that are bolt to the bolt points for the top rear seat then the panel is screwed down to the axle panel and the two corner supports... pictures to come hopefully this week

Re: rear seat delete
To answer a question with a question...Whats the point of having rear seats in a third gen?
Theres a few reasons, either for storage, or to make room for roll bars or braces, or to lose some weight, the seats do add quite a bit of weight. Of course another good reason is to get people to stop asking for rides! I plan on deleting mine for weight, but really, the seats back there are uncomfortable for an adult to sit in anyway so I don't see much of a point of them being there unless you have a child and want to take them along on cruise nights or whatever.

Re: rear seat delete
I understand the storage issue, and the passenger thing also. I used to drive an MGB, and I had an excuse when guys wanted to tag along. I took the seats out for cleaning, and I found them to be quite light. Wouldn't the replacement equiptment be heavier than the seats?

Re: rear seat delete
To keep folks out I run no seat back and only have 1 seat bottom in, behind me is a single 12in pointed at my seat back so there is no room for the 4th.

Re: rear seat delete

Maybe a simple MS Paint line drawing with measurements? I think the back outer corners are probably arches therefore the "hardest" to provide a measurement for.

Re: rear seat delete
Since the 4th gen seats are a tad narrower & if your looking you can see a gap between the 4th gen seat bottom & 3rd gen interior panels....I'd hafta think no. It would be a bit too small & leave noticeable gaps.

Re: rear seat delete
I contacted www.rearseatdelete.com and they will make one for the third gen but they need a car to make one up. I dont live close enough but if anyone does and would even just let them use your car for measurments thatd be awesome. I personally like theres being made out of plastic and a lot lighter than the seats.

Just seeing if anyone is in or knows someone in the area of Rear Seat Delete. Id like one of these made for a third gen but dont live close enough for them to get measurements.

Re: rear seat delete
Thats fine, just giving people options. Not to sound rude but they use molded abs and stuff which you probably dont have access to.
Re: rear seat delete
for all we know you haven't even made anything. You posted this over a month ago and never put any pics...
Hey guys, I installed a turbocharged viper motor in my car and will do them for super cheap if anyone is interested

Re: rear seat delete
The company making the plastic kits is in Gastonia, NC. They still need a car to measure for a kit.
How about your plywood custom kit c2k?
Are you still thinking of making any?
This is definitely the way I want to go with my car.

Re: rear seat delete
I was thinking about just taking the rear seats out. They do not do a lot of good and I have 3 different 4 door cars to use when carrying extra passengers.
