91 camaro z28 cluster problems

ok so a few months ago the right half of my cluster stopped working. the right side has the tach heat and battery gauges. well a few days ago it started working again. all of the gauges worked fine except the tach, it was high a few thousand rpms and everytime i cut off the car it stayed at 2500 or so rpms. a mechanic told me i could take of the glass and mannually move the gauge needle to zero and it would work right. i tried that and now the whole right side is dead again. anyone know how to fix it or any suggestions?

Re: 91 camaro z28 cluster problems

Try taking out the entire cluster and re-install it. These are done electronically so just press it in firmly and it should start working again. I have removed mine a few times and even put white face gauges in it so I know if the cluster doesn't go in tightly some parts may not work. I remember driving in my apartment complex back in college 10 years ago pushing the cluster in while moving very slowly trying to get all the gauges to work. They all eventually clicked on and I have not had a problem since.
