Saggy, Droopy etc. overhead console bag/pouch - suggestions?

As the thread title states, my overhead console pouch has lost all elasticity.

I'm sure that I'm not the only one with this problem. Mine is actually maxed out enough that it shows up in the rear view mirror! I had though about velcroing the inside to close it up a bit, but maybe someone has come up with a solution (resewing the elastics?) to get it back to its original shape. No big deal, but since I'm in the process of a compete
re-installation of my interior, I thought I'd put this question out there.

I cut the old elastic off mine, and hand sewed new elastic to it just like factory. I had to remove the leather pouch from the plastic console (took some co-hearsing). But in the end turned out reallly nice.

I'll try the sewing (honestly, I'll beg my wife to) but regarding the removal of the pouch; was it removed while mounted to the roof or already off? My console is already off and if yours was as well, any tips to prevent damage?

To remove the pouch, you'll have to also remove the console. The pouch is secured with several push-on type retainers. My simple solution was Velcro. Works great. You might do a search as someone was selling NOS pieces a while back.

Re: Saggy, Droopy etc. overhead console bag/pouch - suggestions?

I purchased an NOS one 6 months ago and returned it because it wasn't the same quality as the original. The original corners are squared off and very neatly made. The supposed NOS piece looks like an attempt to duplicate the efforts of GM without the correct tools. It would probably pass for most, but not for me. It looked cheaply made and I didn't believe it was NOS. I did get a refund so all is well with the vendor.

I had the upholstery shop that redid my headliner, unstitch the one edge of the elastic piece, pull it tighter and then re sewed the edges. I don't put anything up there, so as long as it looks correct, I'm happy. The elastic is shot, but the look is correct.

I had an overhead Console that had a ripped bag, So I just took theplate off, took the Bag completely off, and installed the Blank Plate back in my car.

This is the only Pic I have right now:
