Re: NEED HELP WITH 90 IRCOC-Z PASS KEY
its most likely your key cyl. my 89 did this and after i replaced the key cyl i had no issues. i had all sorts of related issues that was caused by the key cyl. one being when i used the bypass resistor pack at times it would work and other tims it wouldnt so i would remove it and all was good. another time one of the fine wires up by the key cyl behind the steering wheel lock plate broke, another time the wires were touching something metal behind thee plate.
the GM # for the key cyl is 26033390. carry your current key with you so they can cut your new key right there as you will have the correct code. there are 15 diff codes for our cars. keep the brass blank incase you lose a key you can use it as an emergency key or have it on hand to make another if something happens.
if you ever need a new module, they arent coded. they burn the code in when you hit the key for the first time of using the new module. this came stright from a GM tech friend.
