Scotchguard on newly installed carpet?

Scotchguard on newly installed carpet?
I'm about to install brand new carpet throughout my car and was wondering, as I passed by some cans of Scotchguard in the store today, if it would be a worthwhile process.
Has anyone applied this product? I'm thinking that especially with T-Tops open, the carpet will be even more susceptible to taking in the elements. Thoughts?

Re: Scotchguard on newly installed carpet?
As mentioned earlier, since this is a summer driver that will primarily have the tops off, I figure every little thing I can do to preserve the interior will be to my benefit. As I write this, my brand new carpet is laying out in the driveway to remove the wrinkles as well as to let the Scotchguard dry. The scotchguard can in the photo was purchased because it is specifically for brand new carpet. The cans were about 10 bucks each at Home Depot and I used two cans.
