Re: Horseshoe Shifter Mod!!!!

Looks too far forward or is it the center consol. What trans? powerglide?
Im still working on mine, but trying to use the OE shifter.
Nice work though.Wanna see it with the complete consol.

The powerglide shifter park detent sits a bit further forward than the oem shifter, about 20-25 degrees of movement. And the car is using the 700r4 transmission.

To do this, my fiancé used the factory shifter plate, with modifications, and welded the center part of the powerglide shifter plate to it. The powerglide shifter shaft sits exactly where the oem shifter shaft used too. My fiancé should have mounted it a little further back for better cable alignment, however there was enough adjustment in the two ends to get it all lined up.

Hey Blueberrycamaro I jus did a 350 swap and a th350 tranny swap into my 91 camaro and now looking to to put a horseshoe in shifter in I so since its already 3 speed etc i shouldn't have any major problems...I don't think but I already have the Thomson performance detent so I'm ok with that but how did you get it to fit in the console and bolted down so before I buy it I'm tryin to find out the facts

Re: Horseshoe Shifter Mod!!!!

He used the factory 3rd gen shifter floor plate with the camaro shifter cut off and welded the horseshoe shift to it. Modified the cable hook up to retain the 3rd gen factory shift cable. And reused the horseshoe reverse switch but had to add a toggle switch to run the neutral safety/park switch. I should have grabbed some detailed pictures during assembly but that didn't happen. Easier to explain with pictures.

Re: Horseshoe Shifter Mod!!!!

That's was my main concern was if I could use the factory shift cable well it's good to hear that it's possible! But I guess the only other question is the toggle switch concept could u explain that a little? Sorry for all the questions !

Re: Horseshoe Shifter Mod!!!!

It's easy to shift! And my husband didn't have a problem shifting it either. I'll have to get back with you later about the toggle switch, husband seems moody today.... :/

Re: Horseshoe Shifter Mod!!!!

My husband doesn't remember how he did the toggle switch,we moved to another state and had to leave the camaro at my parent's place. :'( So he can't look to see what he.
