I'm a noob to the camaro world, Wife just bought me a 83 z28 for a coming home from iraq gift and was told everything is original except paint and hood. She took some pics for me. The interior doesn't look bad at all but it's all leather, did 83 z28's come with leather. the onces i've seen have cloth so help would be great. Questions from IRAQ!!

 

Leather wasn't an option untill the 1987 model year Camaro's. Any pics to post of the interior? Maybe a transplant from a later Camaro or Firebird.

I'd be suspect...either the seats were swapped from a different car, or they've been recovered. Like MT87LT said, no factory leather until 1987.

Strange how you couldn't get leather before '87, and now you can't get cloth replacements for any year. Guess no one cares about being correct.

They aren't leather. You could get vinyl seats in 1983. Usually, the seats were highback seats and didn't have an adjustable headrest. Most cars with the adjustable headrests were with custom interior options. I had a blue 83 Z28 with the vinyl seats and an 82 Z28 with the vinyl seats. They were definitely easier to keep clean than fabric for a teenager in the 80s.
