Budget Bird: Door panels
Well I thought I would try a budget bird build. Well, I am a 23 y/o college student with no money so I have no choice but a budget bird. Anyways, I have made my own interior door panels from scratch and was curious on what you think. Keep in mind that I never used a sewing machine in my life and my grandfather had this 1890's Iron clad bahemoth. He has been a mechanic for a local bus company for 35 years.
Materials:
3 yards of Black Nogahide: $38.00
3 Yards of Black Material with foam on one side: $13.00
1 8x11 Sheet of hardboard composet: $11.00 (find at Lowe's)
1 can of 3m 77 Super Adhesive spray: $2.00
Staples + Staple gun: Already had in garage
Time and Effort: Priceless
Beer and Frustration: $798.13
Now you do not exactly need 3 yards of material for both.... I just bought them because I was popping my cherry on interior work. I expected to screw up/lose a finger to the monster sewing machine but did not. If you would like a step by step process I can fix one up for you guys. Or maybe i can whip a few sets up and sell them to you. just let me know what you think! (Also, I understand the arm rest is gray..... i have black ones coming in soon)

I would give anything to work on car interiors, I found it fun and somewhat relaxing but today if you do not have like 30 different degrees and certifications you will get no where lol. Thank you for the compliment

Re: Budget Bird: Door panels
Those look real nice. Especially for a first attempt. I'd love to see the final assembled panels.
Be careful about offering your services for $100 a set. you could get real busy real fast. hand made custom door panels for a reasonable price I imagine would keep someone very busy for a very long time.

Re: Budget Bird: Door panels
I am serious about it but id have to bump it to 110 to do it because I have to find the two plastic top rails and the pins to hold the panel to the door. Unless you have those. But heres a pict of what they look like on my bird fully finished

Re: Budget Bird: Door panels
I think they look great! I would change the arm rest to black though. That would give it a better flow. just my opinion.
