Emergency help needed!!Shifter Adjustment?
My key keeps getting stuck in the ignition which gets really aggravating. Can anyone tell me what I need to adjust to stop this from happening? I keep having to fiddle with the shifter and ignition just to get my key out. Any help is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks

Yes, I just came to find the answer to this exact question. Is it simply that the shifter cable needs replaced? My car thinks that Park is Reverse. Ive been having to leave it in Neutral and use the hand brake

There's also a safety cable from the shifter to the igntion switch (not the key cylinder). The key cylinder moves a rod in/out of the ignition switch. If the safety cable from the shifter is not in the right position, then the rod fro mthe key cylinder will not disengage.
The ignition switch is located on top of the steering column, under the guages. You remove the underdash panel, then remove two large nuts holding the underdash panel bracket, then remove two more large nuts holding the steering column UP to the dash, and let the column lay on the seat - down it there at just about fingertips reach is the igntion switch, and you can see the cable coming into it from the back side.
I'd check and make sure the cable is working on the shifter end first, as dropping the column and getting to that ignition switch and cable is a real PITA.

I noticed yesterday that my gear indicator is stuck down in 1st gear position. Does this possibly have anything to do with my issue? It seems to be getting worse and I have to jiggle the shifter take it in and out of park just to get the key out.

Could be - sounds like things are broke/out of alignment under the shifter panel - I'd start there.
