Has anybody made a mod for AC controls

I have seen some in dash radio flat touch screens that fit 2-din areas modified to fit in a camaro radio spot, I was wondering if anybody has modified their AC/Heater controls to also work on a touchscreen there and delete the original controls, they look old with a new screen there

not necessarily an easy feat in our cars, as the vents are controlled by vacuum and the temperature is controlled by cable. it would have to be an in dash pc (no radio had these capabilities) and you would have to come up with some kind of motorized setup. newer cars are easier because they're done electronically with actuators at the vent and temperature doors.

Fiero's have electronically controlled vents and such, and so did some GTA's.

Maybe you can adapt one from a fiero or GTA to work in your third gen?

I don't understand why people buy old cars and then expect them to look modern (by 2011 standards). Tastefully done mods will blend in well with what's already there, not stick out like a sore thumb.

I absolutely agree with you. This is one reason I'm not a fan of the 4th gen dash and console swap. IMO, I like to keep our cars as original as possible. Sure an upgraded radio, but a simple one. Why tear apart a perfectly good looking car already and "modernize" it? Kind of takes away the feeling of owning a classic car.

its getting hard to find aftermarket 1.5 din radios and i refuse to adapt the hole down to single din.what id like to have is a plate that brings the heater controls out flush and as high as possible to run a double din radio without notching the bottom.
