Interior paint
I have an 86 trans am which has a lovely black interior. I am restoring the car but I have a problem... some of the pieces have seen better days... What was the factory black interior called? (example instead of gray being gray it was charcoal gray) and is there a paint code? does this color match the black from 2nd gen Trans Ams black?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Interior paint
I have used SEM interior paint in the past with great results. The only problem is that they do not have exact factory matches for the colors in our cars. But I have heard that Landau black is pretty much a dead on match for the black in Third Gen interiors. If you paint the plastics, just make sure you prep the part properly. Use a strong soap to clean the part, and then use plastic prep before you spray the part. This goes for any product you use on the plastic. I painted a console cover on my daily driver 6 years ago, and the paint is still holding up. Considering the wear it gets from me leaning my arm on it all the time, I am pretty impressed with the longevity of SEM paint. It's all in the prep.
