Swap power windows, or leave manual (new doors)
I just ogt me some super nice doors off of a V-6 firebird. They are all manual. The doors in Z28 are all power (except mirrors). They new doors have tight handles, the tightest factory third gen door hinges, and the manual windows are silky smooth. No play in the glass when rolled up either.
So here is my question, do I go throught the pain of swapping the guts of the doors to get power windows and doors locks? Or just leave them alone and put the plugs into the holes from the donor car?

The power windows suck, their to slow,to many different very hard to find parts to replace when they go.If the ones you have are good then keep them.

I know what you mean Mark,I have power windows and they are very slow going down,it feels like your going to blow a fuse before their down.

Manual is the only way to go! Electric motors go out and it is a pain to switch.

Ive replaced mine and swapped them into friends cars. It isnt that hard to do but can be a pain. The way I see it is leave them manual and throw all the wiring into the doors and see how you like them. If you dont strip your old doors and put the power windows back in.

Sounds like it is better to just throw the "new to me" manual doors on the car and go. I will strip the power stuff out of the old doors so I can always install it later.

Pull your door panel. Lube up the slides and gear/spring the handle is attached to. Should work much better after that.
