110 mph speedo swap

i have an 84 z28 with the 85 mph speedo in it, and was at the local u pull it place today and saw several 110 mph speedos..im assuming most of the cars were in the 85-89 yr range, but some might have been newer..question is..are these speedos compatible with my car which im assuming is cable driven or mech. speedo (idk the difference if there is one) i only want the speedo itself not the whole cluster. anyone know of any issues that might come up with the swap? id hate to pick it up and find it wont work..even if it is only 20 bucks. hopefully its just a simple swap/plug and play so to speak.

82-89 Camaro speedos are cable driven, 90+ electric. To avoid electrical gremlins, swap in the speedo head only. Plug and play.

The shape of the 90+ cluster is far different than the 89-. It won't fit without modification.
