I've noticed after a few days of rain that there has been an increasing amount of white mold spores appearing around the drivers side of the dashboard, they seem to be focused around the air vents. They're not fuzzy and rub off easily, I also checked to see if it's wet around that area but it's bone dry. I also wiped the interior down with lysol a couple of weeks before so it can't be a spilled beverage any ideas?

its just our weather , happens to mine every year but mine are closed up all winter so that might have something to do with it

Re: White mold spores on dashboard
all the vinyl/plastic in my TA was covered in that stuff when i purchased it a couple years back. car had sat for 10 years, so sorta too be expected due to moisture. a basic interior cleaner made quick work of it, couldnt even tell if you looked anymore.

If you have had issues in the vents I have had good luck spraying lysol in the vent intake with it cranked to full blast.

i would say that maybe theyre coming from the vents?? its common for cars to grow funky stuff in the evaperator and AC ducting.it also is a health hasard

Re: White mold spores on dashboard
You should see them on a SRS Steering Wheel.

It is nothing to get worried about, and it is not mold!!!

There are airborne algeas that normally do not bother us, but they love certain plastics
and vinyls.

Yes, use a mild bleach water solution
1 cap to a gallon or more of water and just wipe them off.

If you are storing your car and not driving it, then I would suggest using a desicant
of some sort in side your car to absorb any moisture from
affecting your carpet, headliner or cloth seats / seat belts.
You know those things that come in stuff you buy that say do not eat.

You can put an open baking soda box or two on a paper plate or towel,
that will work the same.
