Homemade dash cover

So I have an idea to make my own dash cover rather than buying one, I wanna make it in black so when I sow what i got planned in it really pops but my question is that if its make in black is it gonna draw to much heat to the dash underneath and possibly crack it...or am i better off going in gray to match the color of the rest of the interior.

Re: Homemade dash cover

go black its what they have always been
also bc black reduces glare better
if u go with gray the sun will drive you nuts

Re: Homemade dash cover

mine has a black one too, but its bought. it has this special layer on the bottom that resists heat. i would buy some. not sure what it is though but it worked. my camaro had cracks to start with and is why it had the cover but since the cover no more cracks have produced and looks good.
