This is the decklid trim that came with my cargo shade. Notice how it has the hole for the contact switches.

My car doesn't have a brake light on the deck. So I'm wondering if these decklids, with the cargo shade bracket, were made without the contact pad provision?

 

My 85 (no third bl) had the shade option. It had the correct cut out for both(ie none for the bl)
I don't think I've had a 91 or92 w the shade option to compare.

 

Look at the earlier 3rd gens.My 84z has the slots for the cargo shade only, no tbl.

 

The contact pad was used on early cars that had a rear wiper. I am not sure if they made that trim specifically without that cutout.

I guess they do make that trim without the contact pad cutout. If you are looking for one, he might still have one available.

If you find one without the cutout for the cargo shade, you can make the cut on it and use the metal plate from your old one and rivet it to the replacement.

I always wondered why some cars have the alignment pin on the decklid and some don't.

 

The contact pad was made for wipers and third brake lights. There was no contact pad on the 91-92 (unless they had a wiper) bc the wire came from the roof, not to the back, to the contact pad and then to the light. On my car (1988 Trans Am) I have the contact pad for the third brake light on the glass, on the 1992 Camaro Z28 we have where I work, there is no contact pad on it, but there is a tiny switch in the hatch motor that sends a signal to the lights when the hatch is either open or closed. Sorry if that was confusin lol, tried to explain the best I could.

 

And in that picture, the top trim piece was for either an older third gen w/ no third brake light and no wipers or a 91-92 third gen with no wiper but with a third brake light. The middle one is for the third gens with either a third brake light on the hatch or wiper. The last is for either an older third gen w/ no third brake light and no wipers or a 91-92 third gen with no wiper but with a third brake light with a hatch shade
